The Bourbon House of Three Oaks
Being able to photograph The Bourbon House in Three Oaks was not only a real treat, but a bit of a first for me!
Most of my focus in photography has been on people, so being able to take photos of this vacation home restoration allowed me to step into a bit of history. It’s still all about people when you really think about it – this home has a lot of stories to tell. Just look at the staircase and ask yourself how many people have walked up and down it over the years. Who were they? What were their lives like?
With restorations like these, it’s nice to see a lot of the original history and charm of the home remain, while still breathing new life into the space. Being able to capture the essence of that restored history was a lot of fun, and the setting was so beautiful it was hard to narrow everything down to just a few photos!
Three Oaks has become a bit of a “hub” for vacation rentals and summer homes, but The Bourbon House, cleverly located behind Journeyman Distillery, really adds a touch of what Three Oaks used to be while mixing in a modern flare.
The renovations on this home started in early 2020, and despite going through a pandemic, they’ve continued to prepare for their first renters. The home is getting closer to “finished” all the time, and as you can see, it’s truly destined to be a charming place to relax and unwind in Harbor Country. I’m definitely looking forward to more property shoots in the future.
